In our Browse-By-Subject collection (left-hand panel of the home page), advocates will find some of the most helpful resources listed under “Additional Tools & Resources,” (example: US Farm Bill) including maps, videos, databases, online libraries, links to periodicals, etc. You can find fact sheets about a particular topic in two ways: 1) By looking in the “Reports & Other Documents” section of any particular topic in the Browse-By-Subject library, or; 2) By entering the search term “fact sheet” in the “Search Databases” search box (right-hand panel of the website) and checking the ballot box next to “Gateway (this site).”

In the Browse-by-Subject collection, many of the peer-reviewed journal articles will be difficult reading for the lay reader, but you will find that the reports tend to be written in a more accessible style. In addition, the relevant organizations are a good way to broaden your search to include other groups that are expert in each topic area. These might include government agencies, research centers, advocacy groups, trade associations, or professional organizations.

Advocates might also want to explore the resources available under the heading “Link to Other Resources” (bottom of left-hand panel on the website). This area of the Gateway will link you to web sites that include image libraries, event calendars, glossaries, and listservs and email newsletters.

If you are a registered user of the site (register here) , you can save searches, email them directly to a friend, or share them through a social bookmarking site. You can also sign up for an RSS Feed to receive updates on new Gateway content, along with other membership benefits.
